Inspire me Thursday - Silence
Silence is the great teacher, and to learn its lessons you must pay attention to it. There is no substitute for the creative inspiration, knowledge, and stability that come from knowing how to contact your core of inner silence. The great Sufi poet Rumi wrote, ''Only let the moving waters calm down, and the sun and moon will be reflected on the surface of your being.

I love this piece. Even as a very young man I was able to find my quiet place, relax my mind and listen to the reflections in that silence. I've also been toiling away for almost 2 years now writing very, very, very short stories (25 words or less - difficult to do) and this piece made me think of one that I call "Fear Itself". Here's a link - you can read it in a blink! :D

Thanks Mick! Very very good very very short story. Silence is the only way to hear.
and Mick, I'm still laughing to your citrus!!!!
I think that in finding and inhabiting the silence, I am better able to create as a writer. Everything is more nuanced and refined. You see things you don't normally see. There's so much more depth. It's not an easy place to locate, it's a struggle. But once you do, it's rewarding.
I'm glad you brought up this point by Chopra. A wise man.
Oh no, not like me, like you!
Ricardo, I agree. And when silence is most needed, it's the most difficult moment to concentrate to it. Yes, indeed, it's a struggle, sometimes even very painful, but always rewarding.
Chopra is a very wise man.:)
Susu, ok I agree, I'm cool and elegant, but so are you!!!!!!
Seems this fellow Rumi is known everywhere. I keep seeing references to him in others' writing. Saw a metal sculpture called "Rumi" in Kansas City, US last week. It was to picture the dervishes of his time. I plan to post a photo of it soon on my blog. Thanks for visiting.
Goatman, thank you. Rumi surely deserves these references. I've found that same thoughts emerge everythere, but that's of course the nature of thinking. It shows only the obvious; the unity of minds.
Beutiful Itkupilli....truly inspires one to discover the beauty of silence....:)
Thank you cosmic clown. The beauty of silence....beautiful words. :)
very deep, love the colors and the whole moodiness of it. and i just love that quote, i may just have to tag that onto to this week's theme, it fits so well with what was going through my mind when I chose this week's topic. thanks for sharing with us at IMT!
